Double-sided wet friction plates are wet-running multi-disc friction elements with friction material applied to both sides of a steel core plate. They operate in ATF, hydraulic oil or dedicated lubricating oil and are alternately stacked with separator or reaction plates. They are used in wet clutches, wet brakes, automatic transmissions, powershift transmissions, AWD couplings, PTO systems, forklifts, construction machinery, mining equipment, agricultural machinery and marine drivetrains to enable torque transfer, clutch engagement, slip control, brake holding and heat absorption. Upstream inputs include specialty steel sheets, cellulose/aramid/carbon fibers, phenolic resins, elastomers, graphite, metal powders, sintered powders, ceramic or molybdenum coatings, adhesives, friction modifiers and fluid systems. Downstream uses include AT, CVT, wet DCT, DHT/HEV, AWD couplings, loaders, tractors, forklifts, haul trucks, wet brakes and industrial clutches.
