It is based on the principle of pyroelectric effect, which can convert infrared radiation into electrical signal, which is used to measure and detect the thermal radiation of objects. When an object's temperature differs from the temperature of its surroundings, it emits infrared radiation. The sensor contains a thermopile, which consists of multiple thermocouple electrodes. Each thermocouple electrode is composed of two metal wires of different materials. When the thermopile receives infrared radiation, a temperature difference is generated between each thermocouple electrode, thereby generating a weak voltage.
